Children's Programs & Curriculum
‘Learning Stories’ is an innovative and exciting form of programming that originates from New Zealand and has been adapted to the needs of Australian society. It is a unique way of documenting children’s learning.
Storytelling is used to identify each child’s unique interests, instead of checklists of what a child can or cannot do.Each child at the Centre will have their own portfolio that staff, families and children have access to. Staff will record and photograph experiences that Children are interested in, projects they are working on and observations in general.
This enables parents to see how their child takes part within the group, who their friends are and where their interests lie.
The Children can also add pictures, stories and anything of interest to their own portfolio. Parents will be encouraged to share stories about what their child likes doing at home, special family visit’s, holidays and anything else they would like to share.
The rooms will be set up with permanent learning centres. This provides stability and trust for children. When they arrive at daycare they know where their favourite experiences will be set up and which area of the room they will settle into.
